The Claddagh Set:

Unlike many of the old sets, there is no repeated pattern in this set - each of the four figures has it's own pattern.

Figures 1 to 4:
1st figure (reel): swing opposite

All: lead around, turn towards each other, while keeping hands low, lead back (16), ladies face in, gents face out and swing (8)
Dancing gent and opposite lady: dance around each other, finishing with your back to your own place (8), swing (8) and, while keeping hold of the hands in the air, step back and collect your partner
Dancing couples: with crossed hands, advance/retire twice (8), house (8) and swing (8), tops join for the final swing to finish
2nd figure (reel): chain/house/swing

All: crossed-hands advance/retire twice and swing
Dancing couples (tops, then sides): ladies chain (8), house (8) and swing (8)
Dancing couples (tops, then sides): gents raised right hands across (4), left hands back to home (4), arm around partner's waist and lead around back to place (8). Then, in the same hold, advance/retire (4), advance/join up (4) and swing in four (8), ladies chain (8), house (8) and swing (8), tops join in for the final swing to finish
3rd figure (reel): star & "high five"

All: circle, advance/retire twice (8), house (8) and swing (8)
Four ladies: right hand star, left hands back home and turn anticlockwise under partner's right hand into place (8)
Four gents: left hand star, right hands back home and turn partner clockwise under left hand into place (8)
All: house (8) and swing (8)
Dancing ladies (top ladies twice, then side ladies twice): shake hands in the centre and dance a turn and a quarter around each other to chain with the gent on the left of where you set out from, then cross the set, doing a "high five", to the gent opposite the one you've just chained with. At the same time, the other two ladies turn to the gent on their right, advance/retire with him, dance clockwise around each other into place (8) and all swing your new partner (8).
All: circle, advance/retire twice (8), house (8) and swing (8)
4th figure (jig): chain & arch

All: circle, advance/retire twice (8)
All: chain to opposite, lady does one anticlockwise turn, continue chain to home (16) and swing (8)
Dancing couples (tops, then sides): advance/retire, twirl under the arch, with 1st couple going under the arch (8), advance/retire, twirl home, with 2nd couple going under the arch (8), house (8), swing (8)
Dancing couples (tops, then sides): advance/retire, twirl under the arch, with 2nd couple going under the arch (8), advance/retire, twirl home, with 1st couple going under the arch (8), house (8), swing (8)
All: chain to opposite, lady does one anticlockwise turn, continue chain to home (16) and swing (8) to finish

Notes:
  • 1st Sides: this is one of only a few sets which have first sides on the right, so the order is anti-clockwise.
  • House: crossed hands to opposite side, lady turns clockwise under the gent's right arm and lead back home, with the gent's arm on the lady's shoulder.
  • Swing: swings are in waltz-hold.
  • Chain: ladies shake hands in the centre, left hand to opposite gent (or, in the 3rd figure, adjacent gent) and over his head, while dancing around him, the gent steps in, while facing forward.
